The 12-Week Curriculum

Six phases. One certified coach.

Each phase builds on the last. By week 12, you won't feel like a student — you'll feel like a coach.

01

Application

Pre-program · 1 week
Watch: What makes a strong application
Watch: What makes a strong application

Your application is more than a form — it's your first coaching rep. We review your athletic background, training philosophy, and 90-second video submission to ensure every cohort is built for success from day one.

90-second video: coach a movement you love
Athletic background review (min. 1 year CrossFit)
Funding consultation call with admissions
Cohort placement within 48 hours
02

Foundations Week

Week 1–2 · 40 contact hours
Watch: Breaking down the air squat with Coach Mara
Watch: Breaking down the air squat with Coach Mara

The first two weeks are a controlled storm. You'll absorb CrossFit's theoretical framework, learn how to break down the 9 foundational movements, and start building your coaching vocabulary — the precise language that makes athletes click.

CrossFit methodology & theoretical framework
9 foundational movements — mechanics before intensity
Cueing language: verbal, visual, tactile
Safety protocols and liability foundations
"Week 2, I cued a squat for the first time and the athlete's depth improved instantly. That's when I knew this was real."

Movement Mastery

Week 3–6 · Olympic lifting, gymnastics, metabolic
Watch: Correcting the catch position under fatigue
Watch: Correcting the catch position under fatigue

This is where athletes become coaches. You'll develop eyes for fault detection across Olympic lifts, gymnastic skills, and metabolic conditioning. By week 6, you'll correct a snatch mid-rep without stopping the clock.

Olympic lifting: snatch, clean & jerk — fault detection at speed
Gymnastics progressions: kipping, muscle-ups, handstand work
Metabolic conditioning: scaling RX for every athlete
Live coaching reps: 30+ hours on the floor with real athletes
"The Olympic lifting module alone is worth the entire program. I spotted a bar path issue in a client I'd been coaching for 2 years."

Programming Lab

Week 7–9 · Build your first 6-week program
Watch: Live programming critique — Cohort 36
Watch: Live programming critique — Cohort 36

You'll build a full 6-week training program from scratch — periodized, scaled, and tested. This is the module personal trainers say changes everything: you stop following someone else's whiteboard and start writing your own.

Energy systems: phosphocreatine, glycolytic, oxidative
Periodization principles for CrossFit populations
WOD design: time domains, movement pairings, intensity management
Build and present a 6-week program — faculty feedback session
05

Practicum Hours

Week 10–11 · 20 supervised coaching hours
Watch: Practicum day 1 — Cohort 35 coaches in action
Watch: Practicum day 1 — Cohort 35 coaches in action

Theory meets rubber floor. You'll coach 20 supervised hours at a partner box — running warm-ups, leading WODs, and managing athlete safety under the watch of a senior CF-L2 mentor. This is the section where the question shifts.

20 supervised coaching hours at a partner affiliate box
Mentor feedback after every session — written + verbal
Emergency protocol drill: injury response certification
Community management: retention, culture, new member onboarding
"By hour 8 of practicum, I wasn't thinking about coaching anymore. I was just coaching. That's when I knew I was ready."

Questions from the floor.

If you're still reading, you're closer than you think. These are the questions we hear most from athletes who end up enrolling.

Talk to admissions

You need a minimum of 1 year of consistent CrossFit training. Competitive experience helps — but what matters more is your movement literacy and desire to coach. We've certified athletes at every level from recreational to national competitors.
